i really want to learn programming now.pls, will u advice me to take c# instead o java for better efficiency and worldwide acclaim bcos language in programming advances.thanks
Is c# language better than java really?
As far as the languages go, it's really simply a matter of preference. c# is more evolved than Java; it is based partially on Java but corrects some of the less optimal characteristics. But none of that is particularly significant; anyone who tells you otherwise (such as the Java fanboy above) is just turning a discussion about the best tool for a given job into a religious war; whose language is better. It's childish, really.
As far as the frameworks go (.NET vs Java), they each have their relative strengths and weaknesses; each are better for certain applications. It just depends on what you want to use it for. Java is very strong with transactional and messaging systems, multi-platform and Unix; .NET is very strong with web services and web/data-oriented applications.
Reply:It really is six to a half dozen. They both run about the same speeds, maybe C# is a bit faster. It really depends on what company you are working for wants. But if you know one, you can learn the other in a few hours with messing around.
Reply:If you are just starting out: Java, even if it has a challenging learning curve long term you'll win.
Benefits:
You can deploy on a Linux Server (for server based apps), well if you're wondering if that's important ask any failed dot com in the middle of the bubble why they didn't use it.
OPEN SOURCE!!!! if you need something for that important project, hey don't worry probably already fixed it for you, plug and play; Microsoft on the other hand will make you pay $3,000 for the server and $1,200 por de Development environment, and that's for starters.
COOLNESS: No future big player on the web is playing Microsoft Game, you could ask Paul Graham, the super entrepreneur gurĂș at the edge in Silicon Valley; all the cool guys are running open source, "bro".
Plays well with others: (despite of Java people wanting to make you Java "pure") Need a sexy flash or flex front-end? sure, don't worry; connect with a wide range of databases? sure no problema.
I tell you all from experience; Java sounds good on your resumé and makes you earn some thousands more, if that's what you are wondering.
Reply:Java is better and it is well established

Reply:Java is compatible across multiple platforms. In general, C# only works on computers and devices running Windows or Windows Mobile.
Reply:This is a hard question you know. For me, I know both, some companies do work using C#, others use Java, but if we are gonna compare between them, C# has some advantages, and Java have some others, for example: to run a c# app. you need the .Net framework, (about 1xxMB), but to run a Java application, you simply need the JRE (about 2xMB) or the JDK (about 5x) MB, besides that, Java is a cross-platform language, you can run it anywhere having the required libs installed.
Practically, C# is faster, but you can optimize your Java code to reach -approximately- the same level of speed of C# applications.
If you aim to create desktop applications, then C# would be better especially for deployment, but for web applications, I doubt that C# can compete the Java world!
If you need some syntactical differences between them, then check this link out: http://www.harding.edu/USER/fmccown/WWW/...
